It starts as a photoshoot. It ends with magic.

There’s a certain kind of energy that happens in the studio. It’s the kind that follows people out the door long after the camera’s gone. This is about that moment when someone REALLY sees themselves.

“ It’s not about posing for the photographer's eye, for the random strangers' click of the camera, for your awkward family photo. These photoshoots are for you and only you. You are in charge of YOUR OWN IMAGE… and thus, your own story and your own life. We want you to reclaim your power…one click at a time. ”

It always starts the same way

at our photo studio in Notting Hill, people walk in with a certain energy. Sometimes excited, sometimes nervous… usually both. And they always have a bit of a disclaimer at first:  “I’m awkward in photos.” “I don’t know what to do with my hands.” “I’m really not photogenic, just so you know.”

etc etc etc…

And I get it. I really REALLY do.

Being in front of a camera is awkward babes. It’s exposing. It can even feel detrimental to our confidence…

OR it can do the complete opposite.

And that’s what we’re trying to do at Candid.

We’re helping people reclaim their image. We’re helping people feel seen through their own lens. It’s not about posing for the photographer's eye, for the random strangers' click of the camera, for your awkward family photo. These photoshoots are for you and only you. You are in charge of YOUR OWN IMAGE… and thus, your own story and your own life. We want you to reclaim your power…one click at a time.

So yeah, people come in mostly nervous and confused about how it all works, and those first few clicks tend to feel a bit awkward…but THEN

SOMETHING SHIFTS

  • They stop checking themselves as much.

  • They stop asking “is this okay?”

  • They stop trying to be good at it.

And instead…they just are.

  • Their laugh becomes real.

  • Their eyes soften.

  • Their body settles into itself like it’s finally exhaling.

And that’s the moment the camera actually starts to capture something true, and not a masked, curated version of them.

I love it when that moment HITS. When they finally realise that it was never really about being “photogenic.”

I’ve realised something after watching so many of these moments unfold:

people don’t actually hate how they look.

  • They hate how they feel when they’re being seen.

  • They hate the pressure of having to look “good.”

  • They hate the fact that they can’t see themselves in real time, because then everything feels like it’s out of their control.

But when you put the control BACK in your hands, that’s it. You become superwoman. You stop trying to be someone you’re not, and you start leaning into who you are. Because you feel safe enough to do so.

That’s why a confidence photoshoot in London shouldn’t feel like something you have to prepare for perfectly. It should feel like somewhere you can arrive exactly as you are, and let that be enough.

Because when that pressure melts, even just a little…and that’s when people start recognising themselves again.

And then?

The shoot ends. The photos are done.

BUT the energy doesn’t stop there.

It follows people…Into their walk down Portobello road, their next meeting, their date with that new cutie, their strut down the red carpet.

Because something shifted internally. They’ve experienced what it feels like to be seen without needing to shrink or adjust or perfect anything first. They felt FREE to just be themselves.

And once you’ve felt that… it’s hard to fully go back.

I think that’s why I love this job so much.

Because yes, we take photos, but really, we hold space for these tiny, powerful moments where people reconnect with themselves. And those moments?

They stay…and they slay ;)
